Pilgrimage Destinations

At Joe Walsh Tours we have regular departures for those looking to experience the spirituality of classic pilgrimage destinations such as Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorje, Rome, Santiago de Compostela and the Holy Land.

For centuries, pilgrimage has been an essential part and special ritual of many religious traditions, from Christianity to Hinduism. Pilgrims have undertaken their journeys for many reasons: to atone for their sins, as an ‘offering’ to thank a specific saint or as a way of bringing them spiritually closer to God.

In the Christian world, Rome, Jerusalem and Santiago the Compostela have been the three classic pilgrimage destinations since the Middle Ages. Although discovered more recently, Fatima in Portugal, Lourdes in France and Medjugorje in Bosnia welcome thousands of pilgrims each year and have become the most important Marian shrines in the world.

In addition to these traditional pilgrimage destinations, our pilgrimage programme also includes a selection of Great Pilgrimages of Europe tours to beautiful sacred sites, holy shrines and cathedrals across Europe, from France and Spain to Portugal, Italy, Poland and Lithuania, home of the Divine Mercy.
