World Youth Day WYD is a worldwide celebration of young Catholics with the Pope and international pilgrimage which takes place in a different country every three years since it was first established by Pope John Paul II in 1986.

The last World Youth Day was celebrated in Lisbon, Portugal, in August 2023 and many groups travelled with Joe Walsh Tours to the event. The Pope joined the celebrations, taking part in the welcoming and opening ceremony, the Way of the Cross, the vigil and the event’s closing mass.

The next World Youth Day takes place in Seoul in August 2027, with the event returning to Asia for the first time in over 30 years.
