The Shrines of Europe Pilgrimage is a 10 days sacred journey that brings groups through a spiritual pilgrimage across France, Spain and Portugal.
The group will start this special journey in Lourdes, where Bernadette Soubirous reported eighteen visions of the Virgin Mary in 1858. A religious programme is prepared for the pilgrims which gives them an opportunity to take part in the Blessing of the Sick, the Blessed Sacrament and the Torchlight Processions. The group will enjoy fully guided tour visiting places associated with St. Bernadette, including the Boly Mills, Le Cachot, the Hospice, the Parish Church and the Cemetery as well as a guided walking tour of the Grotto Domain visiting the Grotto, the Baths, the Basilicas and the Stations of the Cross.
The group will travel down to Loyola, Spain, and visit the Basilica of St. Ignatius, the founder of the Society of Jesus, and his home at the Loyola Shrine. Then continue to Burgos, the historic capital of Castile and home to the Cathedral of Burgos (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984). The group will take a trip to Santiago de Compostela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visit the city’s Cathedral, popular for being the destination of the ninth century Medieval pilgrimage, Camino de Santiago.
Next stop will be Fátima, located in central Portugal north of Lisbon. This important pilgrimage site commemorates the events of 1917, when three shepherd children, Lúcia Santos and her cousins reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary.
