Easter or Holy Week is the most sacred time of the year and also a very special time for pilgrimage. At Joe Walsh Tours we have a selection of wonderful Easter pilgrimages from Ireland to much-loved shrines and destinations as they commemorate the Passion of Christ.
EASTER PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
We have two Easter pilgrimage tours to Lourdes: a 3-night tour to spend the Easter Weekend at the shrine and a 4-night tour departing on Easter Monday.
Our classic pilgrimage to Lourdes follows a detailed programme organised by the Joe Walsh Tours team and led by our knowledgeable team in Lourdes led by Fionnuala Brua and Caroline Trainor.
During the pilgrimage, pilgrims will visit the Grotto, Baths, Basilicas and follow the Stations of the Cross. They will also take part in the striking processions such as the evening Torchlight Marian procession.
A guided walking tour of Lourdes also takes pilgrims to the places associated with the life of Saint Bernadette.
EASTER PILGRIMAGE TO MEDJUGORJE
For pilgrims looking to travel to Medjugorje at Easter time, our week-long tour departs on 16th April.
A detailed programme has been organised by our team of guides led by Philip Ryan to make this a very special pilgrimage.
As well as attending mass every day and meeting the visionaries, the Easter pilgrimage to Medjugorje includes visits to must-see places such as the Blue Cross, Apparition Hill, Mount Krizevac, Cennacolo Community and the Community of the Oasis of Peace.
IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF PADRE PIO IN ITALY
On Easter Monday we are also departing for Italy to follow in the footsteps of Saint Padre Pio and Saint Philomena.
This 5-day Easter Pilgrimage takes pilgrims to the most important sites related to the life of Saint Philomena and Saint Pio of Pietrelcina.
This pilgrimage to Italy includes visits to the Shrine of Saint Philomena in Mugnano as well as Pietrelcina the birthplace of Padre Pio, Benevento and San Giovanni Rotondo, where Padre Pio spent most of his life and experienced the stigmata.
We will also visit the shrine of St Matthew the Apostle and the cave shrine in Monte Sant’Angelo where the Archangel appeared in the 5th century.
WALKING THE CAMINO TO SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
Easter time is also a great time to walk the Camino de Santiago trails that have been taken by pilgrims since the Middle Ages.
While our Camino guided tours start later in the year, we can also organise self guided walking tours on the different Camino de Santiago routes, including all you need to help you take your first steps to the city of Saint James.
From flights to accommodation and airport transfers, talk to our travel experts to arrange a wonderful experience on the Camino, on this special Xacobeo 2022, the Holy Year of Saint James.
All our pilgrimages are carefully designed by our team of experts and led by our knowledgeable local teams. Our guides and representatives will provide guidance and assistance to pilgrims at all times, ensuring you receive the highest standard of service and enjoy a memorable pilgrimage.
