Join our 7-night Shrines of France Pilgrimage, taking pilgrims to some of France’s most special sanctuaries and places of magnificent beauty; visiting Ars-sur-Formans, Paray-le-Monial, Nevers, Tours, Lisieux, and Alencon.
We will start our pilgrimage with a spiritual tour of the charming village of Ars-sur-Formans, in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region; and home of the patron saint of all catholic priests: St Jean-Marie Vianney.
From Ars-sur-Formans we will travel to Paray-le-Monial, known as the “city of the Sacred Heart”, a popular landmark and one of the most visited religious sites in France. Here pilgrims will find the incorrupt body of St Margaret Mary Alacoque, in the Chapel of the Apparitions at the Visitation Monastery as well as the relics of St Claude de la Colombière which are preserved at the Jesuit Church. This year is the 350th Anniversary of the Apparitions of the Sacred Heart (1673-1675).
Our next stop is Nevers, where St Bernadette Soubirous joined the Sisters of Charity at St. Gildard in 1866. We will visit the convent where the incorrupt body of St Bernadette rests. The Shrine of St Martin in Tours, in The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Loire Valley will be also part of this special pilgrimage.
Our final stop is Lisieux, we will visit the places associated with St Therese, such as The Buissonnets Sanctuary, the Carmel Chapel, and the Great Basilica. We will also visit the town of Alençon, birthplace of Saint Therese.
