Rugby & French

This year we're partnering yet again with the French Sports & Language Centre to offer not one but two 'Rugby and French' camps in Biarritz, France. Rugby and French is an 11 day rugby, multi-activity and language summer camp which has been running for the last 18 years and has been attended by and recommended by many of todays stars of Irish rugby.

The camp is aimed at boys aged between 11 and 18 and offers the chance to travel safely, make friends and try lots of new sports including surfing, sailing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking & crossfit. Our aim is to help all students develop and perhaps find that LIGHT BULB MOMENT where an activity or sport really ignites their passion. The two core subjects are detailed below

FRENCH - The Camp's French curriculum is designed and delivered by a former French teacher who has over 30 years experience in preparing students for Irish state exams. The curriculum is designed to help students improve their French language skills and confidence in speaking. All levels of French are catered for.

RUGBY is the core sport and the curriculum is led by an IRFU accredited coach. Over the last 18 years we have helped develop skills of players from club to international level. Past guest coaches have included Brian O'Driscoll, Gordon Darcy, Luke Fitzgerald, Roger Uttley, Jason Leonard, Denis Hickie, Jerome Thion, Serge Betsen and Tim Horan to name but a few. The emphasis is on increasing skill levels, communication and decision making, helping the player become more effective in a team context. Again, all levels are catered for and teamwork, safety, technique and enjoyment are fundamental to the camp.

“I was sent out to the Rugby and French Programme by the IRFU through the Munster Branch along with Johnny Holland who has also just signed a contract with Munster for next season. The trip was brilliant. It opened my eyes to the standard of player out there and what was required to compete with them. The coaching was great and I still remember stuff I learned today. The activities and general craic was great. It really whetted my appetite and gave me the belief and the desire to crack on and have a go at being a professional player.”
