Karol Wojtyla lived in Krakow for four decades before his elevation to papacy as John Paul II in 1978. It was here that he said his first Mass under the Wawel Cathedral, lectured in the local university and made the ascent to Bishop, to Cardinal and finally to Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church.

Pilgrims can follow in the footsteps of Pope John Paul II and visit his former residences, churches that marked his history and the Bishop’s Palace, where he resided on each of his pilgrimages to Krakow.
